Things to Do Laveen

There's a lot of fun things to do in Laveen, AZ.

Here are some points of interest and things to do in Laveen...

Manzanita Park

Manzanita Park

This city park loop shows the park's many advantages. The Manzanita Park has multiple soccer grounds for pick-up games or family fun. A large parking lot and playground are near the entrance. The neighborhood can enjoy this lovely green spot.

Accessibility: There are four designated accessible spaces in the paved parking lot off South 31st Avenue at the trail's southern end. They are all van-accessible, with striped access aisles. The trail surface is paved concrete and smooth. It is usually at least 6 feet wide.

The entire trail is expected to have a gentle (3% or less) grade. Most wheelchairs, mobility equipment, and stroller users will be able to navigate this trail. There are benches and picnic tables along the route for resting.

The Sanctuary At South Mountain

The Sanctuary at South Mountain

The Sanctuary at South Mountain, a non-profit horse and dog sanctuary in Laveen Valley, Arizona, is nestled in a beautiful rural region. Their 12.5-acre horse-boarding facility has a riding arena, round pen, five wash racks, three large turn-out pens, private and safe tack rooms, a common area with a kitchen and facilities, a lovely pond, and 24-hour supervision.

The Sanctuary at South Mountain is unlike any other boarding stable. The animals are the primary focus of their sanctuary. They have a strong affinity for animals, and in 1991, they answered God's call by purchasing land to establish a dog rescue organization. They started their rescue in 1993 with the intention of giving unwanted and abused dogs a second chance at life.

San Juan Lookout

San Juan Lookout

San Juan Lookout, the highest point of the South Mountains, can be found at the most westerly point. You can get there by driving your own car or walking for about two miles along the National Trail.

As it nears the western terminus, the trail becomes more congested and dips into a valley that progressively opens until it emerges at a lonely Phoenix viewpoint along the mountains. That area of the city and the mountains are more rural due to their remoteness.

Due to its lack of elevation, this overlook receives fewer tourists than others. It's an easy and enjoyable hike, great for a morning or afternoon of sightseeing.

There are some places to sit near the pad, but there is no shade. Adults will have a better time if they have an umbrella or a chair near the pool's edge, where a light spray of water may hit them.
