What Your Neighbors Are Saying

"Easy to work with this team. I've worked with many contractors over the years and I must say this is the first time I've ever really been impressed.

They showed up daily on time, worked hard the whole time they were there, listened to what we wanted, did an awesome job, completed on time as promised, fairly priced and cleaned up their job site daily.

Would definitely recommend and will use them again if needed.  Thanks to Jeremy for reaching out to my request, and thanks to Mark and Ben for helping us create our dream shower!!"

"I recently had Phoenix Home Remodeling complete renovations in both my master,  (2) guest bathrooms, kitchen, and entertainment wall in my home. I can’t tell you how happy I am with the results!!

The process they set in place and communication on a daily basis made the entire project so much easier than expected.

The use of BuilderTrend software helped to keep me on budget and communication between the team and myself seamless. The team of employees were amazing to work with; especially given this was my first time remodeling a home.

The work and amount of care for my home, lifestyle (we lived in the house during the construction), and quality of work was evident from day one until completion. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who is in need of a home project or upgrades.

I am pleased beyond measure with my newly updated home and cannot thank Phoenix Home Remodeling enough for their time, effort, and personalization they put into making this project well worth the investment. Thank you PHR!!"

As a commercial contractor my experience with residential contractors has been less than stellar so I am generally jaded towards them. These folks are not like residential contractors.

These guys have a good business model in my opinion and do excellent work!

On time, reasonably priced, and quality installation.

Our first remodel and largest expense outside of the home or auto purchase and they made it as easy as possible for us. If you can wait for this team to do your remodel you will not be sorry.

"We recently used Phoenix Home Remodeling to remodel our early 2000’s Kitchen.

The process was very easy and we enjoyed getting to know the team that came to do the work!

We appreciated the straightforward approach to the overall plan, expectations, timing, and cost.

This is a local to Ahwatukee company which was very reassuring that these folks not only work but live in this community with their name on the line.

Communication was seamless and the work was exactly what we wanted!  We will definitely use them again for future work and highly recommend them.

Thanks for a great experience, and fantastic results!"

6 Benefits of Improving Your Home

Here are six often surprising benefits of home improvement:

1. Improved Functionality

Remodeling can often make your home more functional by reconfiguring the layout or adding new features.

2. Increased Property Value

A home improvement project can increase your home's value by tens of thousands of dollars. One of the best ROI's you can get on your property are home improvements like a kitchen, master bathroom, or guest bathroom.

3. Enhanced Comfort

Many homeowners tell us they aren't comfortable in their space and that's vital to being happy with your home. Home improvement is the best method to enhance your comfort.

4. You'll Create New Memories In Your Old Home

Renovating your home isn't just about practical considerations; it's also about creating new memories in the place you call home. A revamped space breathes new life into your home and provides numerous opportunities to create treasured memories with family and friends.

5. Improved Energy Efficiency

When you renovate your home, you may also be able to improve its energy efficiency. Updating insulation, windows, and appliances can help reduce your energy costs and save you money in the long run. Creating more living space is a clear advantage of home improvement. Frequently asked questions

How do I find local pros?

To find local pros, you can ask for recommendations from friends and family, check online reviews and ratings, or search for contractors in your area on websites like Yelp and Facebook.

We recommend only working with design-build companies because its the best way to protect yourself.  If you are unfamiliar with the design-build business model visit this page: https://phxhomeremodeling.com/design-build-vs-general-contractor/

What are the signs of a good home improvement contractor?

Signs of a good contractor include being licensed and insured, having a good reputation and positive reviews, being willing to provide references, having a clear and detailed contract, and being responsive to your questions and concerns.

As mentioned above we highly encourage all homeowner to use a design-build firm which will drastically reduce your risk and potentially save you thousands of dollars.

What percentage should you pay a contractor up front?

We recommend not paying a home improvement contractor more than 50% up front.  We ask for 30% at the time of signing the construction agreement, 30% once the demolition is completed, 30% when the project(s) are about 75% completed, and then 10% when the project is completed.

This is common in the construction industry and is called the 30/30/30/10 plan.

Why is home improvement so expensive?

Unfortunately everything continues to increase.  I remember when fast food was $4-5 dollars for lunch.  Now it’s $11-$15.  So the price has essentially tripled.

If a kitchen used to cost $20k years back, now it is around $50-$60k.

Home improvements are one of the largest ticket items people buy so when it goes up by a few percent it makes a large difference.

How do I protect myself when paying a contractor?

The first recommendation is to only work with a design build company as mentioned in the first question above. To protect yourself when paying a contractor, make sure to get a detailed contract that includes the scope of work, the materials that will be used, the total cost, and the payment schedule. Also, never pay the full amount up front and never pay in cash, instead use a check or a credit card.

Why do home improvement services ask for cash?

Our assumption is they don’t want to report it to the government.  As a homeowner you don’t want to pay them cash because it is hard to prove you made a payment to them.  You want to use a credit card or check that shows you paid them in case you need to sue them or file a complaint with a government agency.

Should you tell a improvement contractor your budget?

It is not necessary but will help you and the contractor to cut to the chase and see if it makes sense to discuss further.  Many homeowners think the contractor will base their project off of what the homeowner tells them.

Most contractors want to know the homeowner budget to see if it even makes sense to have a conversation.  About 30%-50% of the conversations we have in the beginning aren’t a good fit because a homeowner thinks a $60k kitchen costs $20k.  It’s not their fault, especially with influences like HGTV.

So a contractor will need to know roughly what you want to spend to see if they can make it work for your needs.

What increases the value of a home the most?

As of writing this a front door has the highest ROI, then a kitchen, then a master bathroom, then guest bathroom, then laundry room, then entertainment wall.
